** Arthritis Pain Relieved with Tai Chi **
Readers Digest recently had articles on Tai Chi. They reported:
"Take up tai chi. When researchers compared the flowing moves with a traditional stretching-focused regimen for arthritis, tai chi proved four times as effective at cutting pain, and it doubled the improvement in tasks like walking and getting up from a chair."
In another Readers Digest article they reported:
"Our brain controls so much of how we heal. Some say it's the work of the vagus nerve, which runs from your brain to your abdomen, letting your brain communicate with the rest of your body. And evidence is mounting that the more you practice mind-body techniques, the more powerful they become. Some of the benefits:

Biofeedback, tai chi, yoga, hypnosis and progressive muscle relaxation may help ease chronic pain, according to a review of studies, mostly on adults 50 and up. How do these techniques help? Study author Natalia Morone, MD, says they release muscle tension or help you cope with the anger and depression that often accompany chronic aches."
Lastly, Dr. Yan-Go lists Tai Chi as one of the "7 Steps to Centering Yourself"

Pain Relieved with Energy Medicine - University Study Reveals
Posted on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 11:36 AM by T.Smith, M.S. the site author">T.Smith, M.S.
Energy Medicine is very inexpensive and much safer than pharmaceuticals. In February 2009, the University of Missouri Department of Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science completed a study that shows it is also very effective in relieving pain.
The researchers discovered that 73 percent of patients receiving energy medicine treatment experienced a significant reduction in pain, had fewer requests for medication, and slept more comfortably following surgery.
In 1998, another study was performed on 27 patients with osteoarthritis in at least one knee. For six weeks, the patients were treated with energy medicine - therapeutic touch, mock therapeutic touch, or standard care. According to The Journal of Family Practice, the results showed that the patients who had received energy medicine - therapeutic touch had "significantly decreased pain and improved function as compared with both the placebo and control groups."
These studies was conducted with a treatment group, control group and a placebo group. The energy fields were cleared and manipulated using a non-contact system. The pattern is similar to most energy medicine systems. A session will last
- The practitioner enters into a quiet meditation, cultivating healing energy
- The persons Vital Energy or Chi is assessed for heat, tingling, coolness, heaviness, pressure and other cues
- Restoration and balance is promoted by clearing and unruffling these energy disturbances
- The practioner supplements the persons energy fields as a energy conduit
- The new energy is smoothed and brushed in
- The person relaxs for 10 minutes to let new energy fields balance
