Diet And Lifestyle: In The Cancer Fight, Eating Well Is The Best Revenge
Posted on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at 1:16 PM by T.Smith, M.S. the site author">T.Smith, M.S.
We all know that eating fruits, vegetables and soy products provides
essential nutrition for a healthy lifestyle, while obesity leads to the
opposite. Yet proving the effect of nutrition, or obesity, on cancer is
an experimental challenge and a focus for scientists. According to
emerging evidence being presented at the 2007 Annual Meeting of the
American Association for Cancer Research, eating well might still be one
of the more pleasurable ways to prevent cancer and promote good health.

China Detains Six People Involved In Blood Selling Scheme In Guangdong Province
Posted on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at 6:21 PM by T.Smith, M.S. the site author">T.Smith, M.S.
Chinese authorities on Wednesday detained six people involved in a blood
selling scheme in Jieyang city in China's Guangdong province, including
the "mastermind" of the scheme and five sellers, the AP/International
Herald Tribune reports (AP/International Herald Tribune, 4/6). Blood
selling practices during the 1990s in China's Henan province contributed
to the spread of HIV, which affected about one million people, according
to some advocates. The situation in Henan led officials to pledge
reform, and China's Ministry of Health says that it maintains stringent
supervision of blood-collection centers in the country. According to the
health ministry, it closed about 150 illegal collection and supply
agencies nationwide in 2004, the last year for which official figures
are available (Kaiser Daily HIV/AIDS Report, 3/2). According to the
United Nations and the Chinese government, tainted blood largely has
been brought under control in the country, the AP/Herald Tribune
reports. About 5% of newly diagnosed HIV cases last year were the result
of tainted blood transfusions or blood selling, according to the health
ministry.

Eczema Causes And Symptoms
Posted on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at 6:13 PM by T.Smith, M.S. the site author">T.Smith, M.S.
Eczema (or dermatitis as it is sometimes called) is a type of inflammatory skin condition which can affect all ages and can vary in its severity. In its mild form, the skin becomes dry, hot and itchy but in its more severe form, the skin can become broken, raw and bleeding. Eczema (dermatitis) is not contagious but it can sometimes look unpleasant. The word eczema means "to boil" and it affects up to ten per cent of the population.
It is very important when suffering from eczema to establish a skin care routine to keep the skin as moist and healthy as possible:-- Bathing - a daily bath helps to moisturize the skin, using aqueous cream rather than ordinary soap. The water temperature should be cool or warm for a 15 to 20 minute soak so that the skin's outer layer can absorb moisture. Avoid any excessive scrubbing. Dry the skin by gently patting with a towel.

Losing Hope For the Future
Posted on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at 5:39 AM by T.Smith, M.S. the site author">T.Smith, M.S.
Recently I happened across an article written to a Rabbi Shapiro. The
question posed was "How can someone that has lost hope for the future be
helped?".
The Rabbi shared the following: "Losing hope for
the future is not a problem. Choosing not to act now in the present is a
problem. The future is overrated... It rarely turns out the way we
imagine. There is no future. There is only now. What can you do now to
bring you pleasure?"

Herbal Treatment For Recurring Urinary Tract Infections
Posted on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 9:33 PM by T.Smith, M.S. the site author">T.Smith, M.S.
Forskolin, an extract from the Indian coleus plant, a common herbal extract available in health food stores, can greatly reduce urinary tract infections (UTI) and could potentially enhance the ability of antibiotics to kill the E. Coli bacteria that cause 90 percent of infections in the bladder states the researchers at Duke University Medical Center. The researchers used a series of mice studies and discovered that the bacteria that leads to Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) may hide in the cells where antibiotics cannot get to them. This would explain why there is temporary relief, and recurrences. The herb Forskolin, flushes out hiding colonies of bacteria, making them susceptible to antibiotic treatment.Research Explores Herbal Treatment For Recurring Urinary Tract Infections Edited on: Saturday, April 14, 2007 9:52 PM
