Acid Reflux - The effects of drugs on children

    Posted on Friday, October 12, 2007 at 11:05 AM by T.Smith, M.S. the site author">T.Smith, M.S.

There is significant evidence that proton pump inhibitors are linked to all types of problems including increased infections, mineral and vitamen deficiencies, and calcium malabsorption. Now it has been okay'ed for kids to stop acid reflux.

Some other side effects of these drugs are acid rebound; the acid is even stronger, so the kids go immediately back on the medicine. Food acid is a line of offense against digested born infections and poisoning.

Kids have there calcium absorption reduced making their bones weaker. Vitamin B absorption is reduced, and that is key to good mental health.

If acid reflux is a problem, get the kids off soda (use water), eliminate sugars, grains, wheat and processed foods. Some simple dietary and sometimes just temporary changes is all you may need.

    Music reduces Labor Pain

    Posted on Monday, October 01, 2007 at 11:35 AM by T.Smith, M.S. the site author">T.Smith, M.S.

A study published in the Pain Management Nursing demonstrated that soft music can significantly reduce labor pain. These expected mothers were ages 20-30 having their first baby. There was also a control group that didn't have music. Both groups were measured for labor pain and emotional distress for the hours prior to delivery. The mothers who had the music were much less distress and pain.
